In simplified mode, when filters are added in Study Inspector, they are combined by default. For example, adding the filters: Final Screening Status: Included and Tag: Mortality will show you studies that are included and have the tag: mortality.
However, you may wish to combine filters in a different way such that you can see Included studies or Tagged with Mortality. To do this, select “Advanced” on the Study Inspector page:
Once opened, you'll see any existing filters in the middle. On the right, you'll see your filters in the format of a Boolean query. In the below example (red box), you can see the filters are AND'd together by default. You might recognise the format of these Settings as they mimic the concept and query building in the Search Exploration tool. To OR these filters together instead, you can drag a group into the middle from the left hand side (blue box and arrow).
Then, drag and drop these filters inside of the group (red) to show Included studies or Tagged with Mortality. The right hand query updates accordingly (blue) and now 33 records are displayed instead of the previous 22 (green).
Lastly, whole groups can be negated via the “Negate” checkbox. Otherwise, single filters can be negated via the circle icon to the left of the filter title. To return to the normal display select “Simplified” in the top left corner.
In simplified mode, a grouped icon will be displayed next to filters that are grouped.
